We are a family owned and operated business that started from the ground up in 1996 at the Berryessa Swap meet in San Jose, Ca. The first day of operation started with nothing more than a vision, 2 tables and and a few dozen t-shirts promoting latino culture.The response we immediately received was really positive and people loved the idea that we were promoting that it was okay to be proud of being Mexican-American or Latino.
Despite barely selling enough to cover the selling space, food, and gas; we stayed true to our dream of promoting culture. Soon people really started to take notice and realized that we were more of a movement and we made a decision to invest more of our savings in latino art, music, flags, and array of hard-to-find products that really represented our indigenous culture. As the new standard was set, people started to turn away from buying cheap art and bargain t-shirts to buying products with meaning, quality and value.
In 1999 due to certain circumstances, we gave up the store in San Jose and relocated our family and business to Fresno, California. Today Aztlan Xpressions continues to grow and is stronger than ever and we have now expanded our business by offering hard to find prints, custom framing, private home art shows, cultural festivals, event promotions and an annual wine tasting & art show.
